About us

De Sector Kennis Roerend Erfgoed van de RCE

'The Knowledge Centre of Movable Heritage ' of the RCE develops, collects and disseminates knowledge in the fields of Valuation, Conservation Management, Collection Risk Management, Museometry and Accessibility, for collection managers and the general public .

We initiate innovative interdisciplinary research involving collaboration between scientists and art and cultural historians to generate knowledge where needed. This is then applied to support and optimize collection management in a cost-effective way .

The Centre forms part of the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) that is located in Amersfoort (headquarters), Amsterdam (research facilities) and Rijswijk (collections).

The RCE prefers to carry out its research in collaboration with national and international partners. The Movable Heritage Knowledge Centre works together with the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam in the Atelier Building in Amsterdam. The RCE utilises symposia and forums for knowledge exchange as well as web sites and publications, including e-publications.
